"Whys?"

What do you say when a little kid asks you “Why don’t you have any kids?” I get asked this question a lot from little kids.  I guess it because I am in primary and I have tons of little nieces and nephews.  I know that they don’t ask this question to hurt me or to upset me.  They just want to know.  There ages always vary but it always the same question of “Why?”.  I have been thinking a lot about these questions lately.  I am getting better at answering the Whys for the little ones.  I have resorted to saying “Heavenly Father hasn’t sent me any yet.” Or “They are having too much fun in heaven with our (Insert name of loved ones that have recently returned home to Heaven).” I will admit to getting them to pray on our behalf and ask Heavenly Father to send us a baby.  (Hey, you can’t blame a girl for asking/trying.  There is something to be said for the prayer of a child).  I guess I just sometimes wish there was someone to answer my whys.  I just have to remind myself that sometimes life comes with questions that have no answers and that is okay.

Ethan's Run Fun

On February 11th, 2012 we participated in Ethan’s Run.  We had a wonderful time in the Family Fun Run/Walk.  (I’m not really much of a runner. I’m more of a swimmer so we went with the Fun Run and not the 10K) It was so great to see all the family and friends of these sweet heart babies and children at Ethan’s Run. The run is such an amazing opportunity to raise money for CHD, it’s a great way for the families to remember lost love ones and celebrate the miracles of those who continue to fight. It was a beautiful and perfect Arizona morning for the Run.  We ran for our sweet little angel niece Paige.  We all wore team shirts that said “Scooting for Paige 2012” on them.  What a wonderful event Ethan’s Run is for the CHD community.

Ethan's Run

The Third Annual Event

Saturday February 11, 2012

Pancake breakfast and Kids Zone

Ethan’s Run has a three-fold mission. First, to create awareness for Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs). Second, to provided financial assistance to families going through difficult CHD battles. And third, to encourage others to take care of the heart they have. With 40,000 babies being born each year, CHD is the #1 birth defect in the United States.

We are participating in the 3rd Annual Ethan’s Run on Saturday February 11th, 2012.  We are so excited to attending this event.  The run is to create awareness for Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs).  Our sweet little niece Paige was born with a congenital heart defect and her story is on the heart hero’s page (http://ethansrunaz.com/index.php/heart-heroes) on the website.  We are really looking forward to honoring the memory of our niece who lost her battle with CHD on July 28th 2011 by running/walking with Paige’s family.  If you would like to learn more about Ethan’s Run and CHD or to make a donation please visit the site posted below.
